Otti's Body Language hints at APC switch -FCT LP

Eyisi Nwoke, the Labour Party spokesman for the FCT, has stated that Governor Alex Otti of Abia State appears to be signaling a potential defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He also accused the Governor of attempting to undermine the party by orchestrating an unauthorized expanded stakeholders meeting in the state.

Nwoke claimed that the move is part of a broader scheme to disrupt Labour Party's operations and potentially drive a wedge between members.

The alleged meeting, which Nwoke argues is being held without proper authorization, could be a strategic maneuver to manipulate party dynamics and shift control away from the current leadership.

During a monitored interview on FLO FM in Umuahia, Nwoke criticized Otti's lack of financial support to the party since taking over power. Nwoke noted that the Governor has not demonstrated any commitment to the party, which has contributed to the current tensions and issues within the organization.

According to Nwoke, the Governor’s indifference and apparent disengagement from party activities and initiatives have exacerbated the situation, leaving many members concerned about the future direction and cohesion of the party.

He urged Governor Otti to reconsider his decision to call for the meeting, emphasizing that Otti lacks the authority to do so. He argued that by proceeding with this action, Otti is only exacerbating the ongoing party crisis and preventing its resolution.

His call for the meeting, according to the spokesperson, is contributing to the perpetuation of the conflict within the party, rather than addressing or alleviating the issues at hand.

Amid the ongoing dispute between the Labour Party leadership and Governor Alex Otti of Abia State, the governor had announced plans to convene a meeting of the National Executive Committee.

The planned NEC meeting, now rebranded as ‘Stakeholders’ Meeting’ after Tuesday’s remarks by the National Chairman Julius Abure, is scheduled for September 4 at the Government House in Umuahia, Abia State. This change in designation follows recent developments and tensions within the party, reflecting ongoing dynamics and adjustments in response to the situation.

In a statement, Governor Alex Otti explained that the purpose of the meeting is to build a stronger and more effective Labour Party. He emphasized that the gathering is intended to enhance the party's unity and capabilities, ensuring it becomes better equipped to meet future challenges and achieve its goals.
